For a long time, Al Jabal Al Akhdar (Arabic for "The Green Mountain") was inaccessible as it’s located on the imposing massif of Saiq Plateau in the Sultanate of Oman and surrounded by rocky peaks.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana once sought the beauty of this desert by helicopter, but nowadays reaching this area is much more easy. It is only a 2-hour drive from Muscat, driving through date plantations, valleys, wadis and historic forts.

Anantara gets its inspiration from fortified architecture, Omani style villages with a hint of contemporary details.

A total of 115 rooms and villas overlook the canyon below and the stunning gardens. Each room features luxurious custom-made Omani furniture and is enriched with Amouage bath products that evoke the fragrances of the region.

Among the resort's accommodation, 82 are Premier and Deluxe rooms featuring a spacious bedroom, among the largest in the country, a spa-like bathroom made from local materials equipped with a separate shower and bathtub, and a terrace or balcony.
